Dave Melzer - Project Manager

David A. Melzer joined Dean Realty Co. in February of 2004, bringing 30 years of real estate experience. Dave graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1975 with a B.S. in Business Administration. In 1977, Dave joined Chiles & Company, a builder-developer of multifamily residential developments and custom-built homes, as manager of construction. In 1980, Dave became involved with the underground space development industry in Kansas City when he joined Scenic Venture, the joint venture developer of Winchester Center.

During the period of 1980-1999, Dave added to his construction management skills and ultimately acted as project manager for Winchester Center, assuming responsibility of the construction of both public and private infrastructure improvements to the 200-acre office park complex. In addition to the surface improvements, 800,000 square feet of subsurface was improved under Dave's direction. During his service there, Dave served as project manager, property manager and senior property manager. Today, the park offers high-quality grounds and the most secure and aesthetically attractive underground in Kansas City.

In 1999, Dave joined Meritex Enterprises in developing the newest subsurface development in the Kansas City market located in Lenexa, KS. During his five years at Meritex, he guided development of over 1,000,000 square feet of the fastest growing subsurface in Kansas City. Today Dave is instrumental in Dean Realty's construction and development department assisting in the planning as well as providing direction and supervision of both surface and subsurface projects.

Dave has been involved in numerous associations and task force committees, providing owner's representation in community and industry projects. Dave has served as past president of the Underground Developers Association, committee member of BOMA's High Rise Sprinkler Retrofit Committee in Kansas City, past board member of Westport Merchants Association, an owner's representative in the Westside Community Action Network Center, past board member of the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce and current principle member of the NFPA 520 Standard of Subterranean Spaces committee.

In his spare time, Dave enjoys sailing and is a certified scuba diver. Dave also enjoys his connection with nature residing at and working his hobby farm in suburban Kansas City.
